What happens during initial visit?The initial visit provides an opportunity for you and Dr. Schur to evaluate your or your child's bite and discuss goals and desires relating to potential treatment results. We will discuss orthodontics in general, as well as specifics and potential options as they relate to your unique bite or occlusion. If you wish, we can discuss insurance and cafeteria plan benefits, as well as estimates of treatment duration and fee. We want this visit to be pleasant, efficient, and informative. Do I need to be referred by my dentist? It is not necessary to be referred by your dentist. Though many of our patients were referred by their dentist, it is common for patients to be referred by family members, friends, coworkers, or our website. How do I schedule an initial visit? Simply call Kathy, our scheduling coordinator, at (425) 747-4477, and she will be more than happy to schedule the initial visit. We are also happy to schedule the visit via email. What happens next? That depends on your needs and desires. To properly analyze your needs and plan treatment, we will need to gather orthodontic records, including photographs, x-rays, and plaster models of your teeth. In order to make models of your teeth, we will take molds or impressions. These can be taken during your initial visit or scheduled for another time. The photographs and x-rays will be scheduled at a nearby orthodontic x-ray lab. Occasionally, patients need to consult with another specialist, so a referral will be made. We will also schedule a consultation visit where you and Dr. Schur will review your orthodontic records and discuss actual treatment options. We will be happy to coordinate and schedule all needed appointments for you. If a child is not ready for orthodontic records, we will determine when he or she should be seen for a bite check-up. Often patients wish to begin treatment as soon as possible. In these cases we will schedule treatment visits as well. Download forms for initial visit.
