Ronald McDonald House Food Drive News

The 2018 edition of the Schur Orthodontics Ronald McDonald House Food Drive was bigger than ever! Our patients and their families brought in so many wonderful contributions that there was hardly room to walk in our reception room and on-deck areas. We do this to make it simpler for our patients to support the local community, and the Ronald McDonald House is such a great community asset. They provide housing for families of sick children who are being treated at the Seattle Children’s Hospital. The food and supplies that these families rely upon are donated by the public, and summertime is a particularly challenging time for the donations. When we delivered the truckload of donated items the staff at the Ronald McDonald House were amazed. They were so pleased because supplies were getting quite low. This year the offices of Drs. Nolan Gerlach and Rod Wentworth support our efforts, and we thank them! Thanks to our very own Tina for organizing and promoting the food drive, and to Dr. Niyati Singh for helping me with the delivery.

Seattle Humane Society Food Drive News:

Tina is ready to go with the 2018 Humane Society Food & Supplies Drive. It will be conducted in our office from October 1st through December 20th. The drive benefits ill and elderly members of our community who are comforted by pet companions but need help with the basics like food, bowls, leashes, litter, etc. This is always a fun and very productive community event, and we look forward to seeing the mountain of supplies grow. Thanks in advance for participating!

Dr. Schur initiated into the Pierre Fauchard Academy

Dr. Schur is a newly initiated member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, which is an honorary dental service organization that promotes dental education, research, ethics, and quality treatment. It was founded in 1936. The academy was named after Pierre Fauchard of France (1678-1761), who is recognized as the “Father of Modern Dentistry”. The local membership includes many who are active in dental leadership, community service, and dental education.
