What do pets and hurricanes have to do with Seattle?
The Northwest has a laudable record of rescuing pets from California as well as areas that have experienced natural disasters. The Seattle Humane Society has taken on displaced pets from the hurricane Harvey-ravaged areas of Texas. As you can imagine, the need for pet food and supplies is great.
How can you help?
At Schur Orthodontics we host an annual pet food and supplies drive in order to make it easy and convenient for our patients and their families to support the Seattle Humane Society’s efforts. Typically the donated items go to ill and elderly owners of pets, providing them with companionship that they might otherwise not be able to support.
This year we are holding an extended donation period in order to fill the unusually high need due to the local Humane Society taking in many displaced pets from the Houston area. We have been informed that there’s a particular need for dry cat food. At the end of the donation period, Dr. Schur fills his truck to the gills and transports the donated items to the Humane Society Donation Center. They are always amazed at the volume of food that is donated by our generous and enthusiastic patients!
How is it going so far?
As usual, our patients enthusiastically support our drive, and our mountain of donated food items grows by the day. We’ve only been at it a couple of weeks, and we have two months to go!
If you’d like to join in on the effort, feel free to bring in dry or canned pet food at your convenience. We take care of the rest. Schur Orthodontics, the Seattle Humane Society, and of course the displaced pets thank you!
